refuges
Here are the main refuges (mountain huts) on Mount Olympus that hikers actually use, plus a few useful lower/side huts and the emergency shelters.
Core refuges for the classic Olympus hike
Refuge A “Spilios Agapitos” (Καταφύγιο Α, 2,060 m) – the most famous stop on the Prionia → summits route; typically open mid-May to late Oct; booking/phone available.
Petrostrouga Refuge (Πετρόστρουγκα, ~1,919 m) – key stop on the Gortsia → Plateau of the Muses approach; official contacts/website available.
Giosos Apostolidis Refuge (Γιόσος Αποστολίδης, 2,697 m) – on the Plateau of the Muses; major base for Skala/Skolio/Mytikas; typically daily early June–end Oct, with arrangements possible outside season; phone/email listed.
Christos Kakalos Refuge (Χρήστος Κάκκαλος, ~2,650 m) – also on the Plateau of the Muses; published seasons include late May–early Nov (and a shorter winter operating window depending on snow); phone provided.
Very useful “lower / access” refuges
Dimitrios Bountolas (Stavros) Refuge (Καταφύγιο Σταυρός, ~930 m) – closest common refuge from the Litochoro side; operates year-round with winter variations; contacts available.
Vrysopoules Refuge (Βρυσοπούλες, ~1,800 m) – inside the KEOAX military area / ski training center; overnight stays typically require coordination/permission via the listed contacts.
Koromilia Refuge (Κορομηλιά, ~1,020 m) – north-east side; open schedule published by the refuge (summer daily, weekends otherwise).
Krevatia (Vrontou) Refuge (Κρεβάτια, ~1,005 m) – north side; seasonal/weekend operations are commonly published with booking possible outside.
Emergency shelters (basic, not like staffed refuges)
Agios Antonios emergency refuge (2,817 m, ~9 people)
Christaki (Christakis) emergency shelter (2,550 m, ~10 people)
Plus several other small shelters listed (e.g., Migkotzidis, Livadaki, etc.).
